After a weekend in Lubbock to celebrate Peace Corps Day with my old Peace Corps friends, here I am back in Rowe, starting to clean up for The Red Elvises. Getting my wood fired hot tub cleaned out, picking up bits and pieces blown around...noticing how dry it is...one of my 35 year old Lilac bushes is pretty near dead...and I can't really , in all good consience, water it.
Since I don't have any animals out here, the gophers and rabbits eat any green plants I might put out, so I have covered up my geraniums with wire and we'll see if that deters the hungry critters. Thank goodness I can grow vegetables in Santa Fe. This "Dual Citizenship" has it's advantages.
The Hummingbirds are back and buzzing around. YAY!
I have been here off and on since 1974, and have seen some climate extremes...I time travel sometimes sitting in my room looking out at the same scene, and read my journals which go back a while and remind me of how much I love living in this little place.
But, no time like the present! 2013 Summer coming up...I just got a school bus and will use it for guests or maybe someone might want to fix it up and live out here, also. anyone?
